By combining the Business Informatics study program at the university with an apprenticeship at our company, you will quickly acquire broad expertise and a high qualification as an IT Specialist (m/f/x) – specializing in Digital Networking and a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.). This is your unique opportunity to gain and apply both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in IT.

Tasks

Developing the interface between IT and production
Getting to know various commercial departments (purchasing, sales, human resources, work preparation, business administration)
Developing and programming software solutions
Working independently on your own projects
Ensuring IT security in the company
Managing and operating networks
Supporting with IT-related problems

Qualifications

General or subject-specific university entrance qualification
Good knowledge of English and mathematics
Basic IT knowledge
Enjoy working with and on computers
Team orientation and independence
Diligence and sense of responsibility
Very good self-management

There are two specialisations for the apprenticeship as an IT Specialist at OTTO FUCHS in conjunction with the study programme. A specialisation is a focus on a specific field starting from the third year of your apprenticeship. The specialisations are independent of the study programme.

Specialisation in System Integration

You take over the administration and planning of networks, identity and access management, configuration and installation of servers and clients, as well as consulting and selection of hardware and software.

Specialisation in Digital Networking

You develop interfaces between production machines and IT systems, evaluate and implement various communication protocols, realise concepts of Industry 4.0 and SMART Factory, and develop software solutions.

Vocational school & University

Lectures take place every 2nd Saturday, alternating between the University in Dortmund and the University of Cologne, with self-study during the week
Vocational school takes place at the Berufskolleg für Technik in Lüdenscheid
- 1st year: Mondays and Wednesdays
- 3rd year: Wednesdays and Fridays
- 2nd year: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Duration of the dual study program

4 ½ years
The first 2 ½ years are spent in parallel with the apprenticeship
