What began on a small scale with a yellow foundry in 1910 has developed into an internationally operating group of companies over the course of more than 100 years. Today, the fourth generation is responsible for the company and its employees. Preserving what is right, making it valid and changing what is necessary remains the task of the more than 5,000 employees worldwide.

2020
Growth and innovation in challenging times
Despite global crises and new challenges, the OTTO FUCHS Group is consistently pursuing its course of growth and innovation.
2023: The expansion of OTTO FUCHS KG in Meinerzhagen into an aerospace technology center begins. In addition, the position in the aerospace industry is further strengthened by a second location in Verdi (USA) and the acquisition of VOGT NDT.
2020: The general refurbishment of the 30,000-ton press and the opening of a central development center at the company headquarters in Meinerzhagen strengthen both the development expertise and the commitment to Germany as a development and production location.
2021: The commissioning of a second plant in Hungary at the Mór site will create additional capacity in the production of battery housings (e-mobility).

2010
New markets and world records
2018: Completion of the 54,000-ton press in the USA sets another world record and new opportunities for the aerospace industry.
With OTTO FUCHS Surface Technology, OTTO FUCHS opens a state-of-the-art production center for surface treatment and painting of our FUCHSFELGEN.
2011: OTTO FUCHS Technology (Shenyang) Co., Ltd. in China is founded and strengthens the positioning in the automotive sector.
2010: OTTO FUCHS relaunches the classic FUCHSFELGE.

2000
Technological innovation and expansion
The 2000s are also characterized by growth and technological breakthroughs at OTTO FUCHS.
2009: With the introduction of ring rolling technology, OTTO FUCHS expands its service portfolio and gains another key technology.
The branch plant in Dülken is founded as an independent OTTO FUCHS Dülken GmbH & Co KG.
2006: The joint venture FOXTEC IKHWEZI (Pty) Ltd. is founded in South Africa and strengthens production capacity in the automotive sector.

1990
International growth & breakthroughs in aviation
1997: OTTO FUCHS expands into Hungary and founds today's OTTO FUCHS Hungary Kft.
OTTO FUCHS also starts producing engine disks and expands its product portfolio to include other high-security parts for the international aviation industry.

1980
New materials and large-scale production
In the 1980s, OTTO FUCHS enters into the large-scale production of aluminum chassis components for vehicle construction.
There are also technological breakthroughs: With the AZ86 aluminum alloy, OTTO FUCHS is developing an alternative to structural steel that is twice as strong but two-thirds lighter.
These achievements lead to new possibilities and applications in both the automotive and aviation industries.
1970
Expansion into North America
The 1970s marked a milestone in the company's history.
In 1978 OTTO FUCHS enters the North American market with the purchase of Weber Metals. This strategic decision enables OTTO FUCHS to sustainably expand and strengthen its range of services in the international aviation industry.

1960
Major growth through strategic decisions
The 1960s marked a phase of strategic decisions and major growth.
1962: In cooperation with Porsche, OTTO FUCHS starts the production and development of forged aluminum alloy car rims. The legendary FUCHSFELGE is born and celebrates its premiere at the IAA 1965.
1964: OTTO FUCHS puts the 30,000-ton press in Meinerzhagen into operation in order to continue shaping developments in the aviation industry. It is the largest privately financed closed-die forging press in the world to date.
In the same year, OTTO FUCHS expands its business field with the acquisition of today's SCHÜCO International KG to include the building supply industry and façade technology.

1940
New materials and capacities
The 1940s are characterized by material innovation. The company adds magnesium and its alloys to its portfolio.
In 1941, a branch plant is established in Viersen (Dülken) in order to bundle know-how in the field of magnesium. The site in Dülken forms the foundation stone for the later OTTO FUCHS Dülken GmbH & Co KG.

Aluminum: OTTO FUCHS as a pioneer
In the 1930s, the processing of aluminum led to new technical possibilities worldwide - especially in mobility.
OTTO FUCHS is one of the first German companies to manufacture aluminum pressed parts for the emerging aviation industry.

Expansion and diversification
In the 1920s, OTTO FUCHS expanded its premises and already employed around 400 people.
The product portfolio was expanded to include pressed brass parts developed specifically for the electrical, automotive and motorcycle industries. This marked the beginning of broader product diversification and a focus on industrial markets.
1910
The foundation – the beginning of a success story
The history of OTTO FUCHS KG began in 1910 with the entry of Metall- und Armaturenwerke Meinerzhagen GmbH in the commercial register.
Production initially focused on calibrated brass weights, which were manufactured exclusively for German post offices. This is the first example of the technical precision that the company has stood for ever since.
